As a blogger or just someone that loves aesthetics, you’ve most likely come across a Pinterest image of a perfect blogging/work space. The white walled office, MacBook, NotePad, DSLR/Mirrorless Camera and a cute potted plant.
Not everyone has all of that yet and if you’re just starting out, it might cost a lot to go purchase your blogging tools/gadgets all at once.No fear if you are in these shoes as you can do all you want to do on your iPhone. (Or a really nice Android phone). Here’s how.
1. Stock up on Storage Space: Your phone would be most enjoyable if you have solid storage space for all your many blogging and photography apps. Android phones have the option of expandable storage. iPhones are fair with storage space,
and 64gb upwards should give you some room. The most annoying phrase in the world is in the image below.
2. A good camera(And a good eye): Most iPhone cameras are very decent to take pictures. I started blogging with an iPhone 5. And with good lighting, I was able to take some really nice pictures. I’ve worked my way up to a 7 and it has gotten way better and I don’t have to rely so much on a lot of editing.
For androids, I have even used an infinix hot 4 to take some pretty clear shots!
Have a good eye for angles and train a friend(or next door neighbor! 😂) to take your pictures.
This is actually a large topic that has other subtopics. Like how to shoot RAW images, HDR, optic stabilization and other things you can do with your iPhone that won’t make you think about a DSLR camera.
You can auto focus on your camera, increase the brightness and shoot videos in 4k.
This means you can shoot good quality videos for YouTube! Yes, you heard me.
There are e-books on #iphonephotography that have helped me a lot.
3. Follow the Light: For beauty bloggers/vloggers, or any creative/person that records videos or takes indoor pictures, always face a window. You don’t necessarily have to wait to buy a ring light or soft box. Find a nice bright spot right in front of a window at home and record. “Natural lighting is the best lighting”< strong>4. Download Mobile Apps: There are a lot (and I mean a looot!) of blogging and photography apps that are available on the App Store and on Play Store. Get ready to download, browse through, read reviews and you can do everything from ‘changing the entire background of a picture’ to ‘checking your analytics and pushing blog traffic.<<<<
across something that made me laugh the other day. “No one on Instagram is finer than you. They just have more Apps” 😂
Funny But True.
4. Bonus Tip: Now you have all this sorted out and you know that your iPhone can help your budget until you get other gear, you can go ahead and add a blog planner to the mix to help with efficient scheduling and ticking off your blogging goals.
The Cassie Daves Blog Planner is really the best in the market yet. As a 3rd time user, I can say for sure that it will up your motivation to blog.
That’s it for now! These are heavy bullet points for using your iPhone as your only gadget.
If you want me to expand on each point with specific apps, procedures etc, let me know. If you are a blogger, let’s have a conversation in the comment section.
Comment down below the gadgets you used when you were starting out. And what you use now. Till next time. Love,Ella. “Thou art my hiding place and my shield. I hope in Thy word. – Psalm 119:114”

They are the truth. I have more than these. I just didn’t want to overcrowd the post. I’ll do it individually some other time.

That was the goal. Doesn’t matter your niche, we can all benefit from it.

To be honest I’m not really a picture person. I’ve only started now to use my 6S to concentrate on taking pictures for the blog. Normally what I do is incredibly sashay through pixabay and look for a homey picture. Not the one that looks too much like Pinterest and perfect photography😂
But you’re right, with great phone comes great responsibility. I should maximize what I have and do better

It also depends on what is about. My brand literally represents me. And selling my ideas and creativity involves people actually seeing my face(eg makeup). For that reason, and others, I tend to reduce the pictures that aren’t mine on my blog or IG to the barest minimum.
Lol. Great responsibility. Let me know how it goes, hun.
Oluchi
Oh you’re right. Some brands, like yours, require less picture taking laziness. Lol
Ellapinkette
Lol. 😂😂That’s not really what I meant. You can do a photo challenge though. And take a picture of one thing everyday for about 30days. You don’t have to post it. It could just be practice.
Oluchi
That sounds interesting. Hmm. Thank you! I’ll hop on this! ☺️

Thank you. Actually I mainly use my phone too but I tend to use a laptop for formatting the post and some edits on texts but when it comes to photos I entirely use my phone too.

Hi dear,
Thanks for this post.
I just started blogging and I’m looking for an app I can use to write and design caption statements and phrases. I was introduced to Phonto but its not giving me what I want. What do you suggest??
Ellapinkette
Hi dear. You can try Canva, Typic, Over, bubbleframe…you should search reviews for these apps before you go ahead to download though. In doing so, you might come across even better ones.
I have only used Canva to create my own graphics but I hear the others are good.

Thanks dear.
